Paid UX Checkout and Cross-Platform Ownership Update

Paid creator UX now moves through a real website checkout path in test mode, with ownership flowing back into the shared Apex account and library model across the website and Companion.

We shipped another important piece of the Apex account and UX platform this week: paid creator UX can now move through a real website checkout flow in test mode, and successful ownership flows back into the same shared account and library system that the rest of the platform is already using.

That sounds simple on the surface, but it mattered because we were no longer just making paid UX visible. We were making the ownership model behave like one connected system.

What changed

The website now does more than show price tags on creator UX.

It can:

  • recognize when a face is priced
  • launch a real checkout flow from the UX Store
  • return the user to the website after checkout
  • refresh account ownership after a successful purchase
  • and make that purchased UX show up as owned instead of behaving like an unclaimed listing

This is still running in test mode while we finish the remaining commerce work, but the path itself is now real enough to prove the platform model.

Why this mattered

Paid UX only makes sense if ownership means something.

Before this, the platform had already done a lot of the hard groundwork:

  • Face Studio could author structured pricing metadata
  • the website could display paid creator UX honestly
  • account-backed library behavior existed
  • Companion could respect ownership state
  • and non-owned paid face imports could be blocked instead of quietly accepted

The missing piece was checkout itself.

Now that checkout is connected to the shared ownership model, the platform can do something much more coherent:

  • a user buys a creator UX item on the website
  • that ownership is tied to the same Apex account
  • the website library reflects the purchase
  • and Companion can see the same owned state without inventing a second system

That is a much more important milestone than “we added a payment button.”

It means paid UX is starting to behave like a platform feature, not just a labeled file.

Cross-platform behavior got stronger too

This update also reinforces something we have been pushing toward for a while: Apex Infinity should not feel like different products fighting each other.

The website, Companion, Face Studio, and the shared account layer are all supposed to describe the same reality:

  • what a UX item is
  • whether it is free or paid
  • whether the signed-in user owns it
  • whether it should still be available after delisting
  • and whether it should sync across surfaces

With this latest work, that picture is much clearer.

The website can launch checkout. The account can record ownership. The library can reflect that ownership. Companion can honor it. And non-owned paid UX can still be blocked from being treated like a freely transferable file.

That is the kind of product consistency we want.

What is still next

This does not mean the commerce side is finished.

There is still more to do:

  • richer purchase confirmation and purchase-history UX
  • better admin and operations tooling around entitlements and purchase events
  • creator payout architecture
  • creator onboarding for payout and reporting
  • and the final decision around which payment/payout model we want long-term

So this is not the end of the commerce story.

It is the first time the platform has had a true paid-UX checkout path that feeds back into the same ownership system the rest of Apex already understands.

That is a real step forward.
